Bloomingdale is small even by Parke County standards. The 2026 population estimate is around 278. There is no stoplight, and the number of businesses headquartered here is short enough to name on one hand. Practically, for us, that means Bloomingdale is one of the Covered Bridge Festival's satellite draw points rather than a bystander to it. A town of 278 with a festival-season craft draw needs public restrooms for ten days in October, and those get planned the same way Rockville's do.

Bloomingdale and the farm ground around it run almost entirely on private on-site septic systems.
