A town of about 278 people, and our whole operation
Bloomingdale is small even by Parke County standards. The 2026 population estimate is around 278. There is no stoplight, and the number of businesses headquartered here is short enough to name on one hand. Rockin L is one of them, at 400 North Main Street, which is where the entire fleet sits: over a hundred portable restrooms in the yard and the vacuum trucks parked alongside them.
That matters more to the rest of the county than it does to Bloomingdale itself. Being based here means the units are already north and west of most of Parke County when the phone rings, rather than being dispatched out of Terre Haute or Indianapolis. For our neighbors in town it means something simpler: the person you call about your septic tank is somebody whose truck you have watched go past your house.
The Quaker end of town
Bloomingdale's history runs through the Society of Friends. The Friends' Bloomingdale Academy operated here from 1846 until 1916, and a great many of the Quaker records for Parke County are held in a vault in town. The historic Friends Meeting House, which most people just call the Quaker Church, still anchors the village and is known during festival season for homemade apple butter and local crafts.
Practically, for us, that means Bloomingdale is one of the Covered Bridge Festival's satellite draw points rather than a bystander to it. A town of 278 with a festival-season craft draw needs public restrooms for ten days in October, and those get planned the same way Rockville's do.

Septic in and around town
Bloomingdale and the farm ground around it run almost entirely on private on-site septic systems. A good share of those tanks predate anyone's memory of them being installed, which means two things we run into constantly here. First, the access lid is buried, often a foot or more down, so a pump that should take forty minutes starts with a shovel. Second, older concrete tanks in this area frequently have a deteriorated or missing outlet baffle, which is the part holding solids back from the drain field.
If we pump your tank in town and find the lid buried, we will make the case for a riser. It is not an upsell we push hard, it is arithmetic: the riser costs less than the dig time across two or three future pumps, and it means you can actually locate your own tank. Same with a missing baffle. That is a small part that keeps the expensive part of your system alive.
What we handle in Bloomingdale
- Septic pumping for homes and farms, generally same or next day for in-town addresses.
- Septic tank service, especially risers and baffle work on older tanks.
- Portable restroom rental for parties, auctions and remodels, delivered from up the street.
- Event restroom rentals for festival-season craft grounds and town events.
- Construction site portable toilets for ag buildings and residential builds.
- Sewer jetting for older lines with root intrusion.
Coverage around Bloomingdale
Bloomingdale (ZIP 47832) and the surrounding farm ground in northwestern Parke County. If you can see the water tower, you are inside our fastest response area.
Neighboring towns on the same run: Rockville about ten minutes southeast, Montezuma about fifteen minutes west, plus Marshall, Mecca and Kingman as part of regular county coverage.
Why being local actually changes anything
Because response time is not a marketing claim when the yard is inside town limits. A septic emergency at a Bloomingdale address does not get slotted into a route that starts an hour away. And when something breaks, it gets fixed here: Dane Leatherman is a mechanic and works on the trucks himself in the shop on this property, which is the specific reason a pump truck problem on a Friday night does not become a customer's Monday problem.
